Interview with the Wirtschaftsförderung Emden

Today it's time again! We like to present you a new, interesting interview with a new partner: This time we were speaking to Beatrice Franck, innovation and networking manager Logistic & Automotive at the Wirtschaftsförderung Emden. The predominant aim of the Emder Wirtschaftsförderung und Stadtmarketing GmbH, employing 18 people at the moment, is to proactively support the economic location Emden with its services and offers and to further strengthen it. Being supported by an overall city marketing approach good basic conditions for the entrepreneurial success should be offered for the regional economy.

Which approaches and measures concerning Operational Excellence are already implemented at your company?

Beatrice Franck: The introduction of a CRM-sytem in order to establish a unified data base for the whole work.

Are there further actions planned to be undertaken in the future in this field?

Beatrice Franck: Thanks to the introduction of the CRM-sytem a continuous improvement process on the basis of key indicators can be implmented in the future.

Does your company offer advanced trainings to the topic Operational Excellence for your employees?

Beatrice Franck: No, not yet - but we are interested in advanced trainings for our employees.

What are your expectations on this initiative?

Beatrice Franck: New input, to learn from experiences made by the producing firms as well as best-practices.

To which themes do you wish to exchange thoughts and know-how?

Beatrice Franck: In the thematic fields Logistic and Automotive.

Are there specific aspects which are extraordinarily interesting for you? (for example, for networking-meetings or best-practice trips)

Beatrice Franck: Especially best-practices, which can be easily passed along to companies in Emden and to the networks.

Are you interested in workshops during our networking-meetings?

Beatrice Franck: Yes, definitely. It's the only way to directly practice the theory.

Which challenges to you see your company being confronted with in the future?

Beatrice Franck: We also see us being confronted with the challenges of the digitalization. The remote/hybrid working is going to further develop and strengthen. It's important to take along all employees.

Do you see a fundamental change within your sector in the next 5 years?

Beatrice Franck: In our field of activity we are going to do more online/digital as well and we will further develop our offers accordingly.

Thinking about the north-western region, what do you think is mostly needed by the region to challenge the ongoing as well as future changes? 

Beatrice Franck: The willingness to challenge the change courageously and to actively participate. 

In this context, how do you value the potential of initiatives like ours?

Beatrice Franck: Initiatives like this offer the chance to learn from experiences made by other companies. Furthermore, participants get to know, that others might also have some struggles with the introduction and implementation.
